Re: [T3] Today's work

<x-flowed>Daniel, I am also forwarding this to the list for everyone to see.

Everyone, I got lost on this thread, so I had to ask Daniel what he really needed answered, because it looks like most of you only know the FI engines, and it just adds to the confusion. I have, as you probably know, nothing but carburetted engines, just like Daniel, so I had to ask what the problem was, so I could help out a bit.

Hi Per,

What I would like to know is about the plug wire holders. I have this piece:

and I can't fit it the way I was told to because the carb is in the way. Do you have a pic of how it should be installed?

The carburetted engines doesnt even have this holder bracket, I believe it is for FI models only. The carbed engine has a much smaller holder, where it uses one of the black dual wire clips and also a smaller white single wire clip for the coil wire. There is of course no interference problems with the carburettor here, as the holder for the spark plug wires is a lot smaller than the one for the FI models. The black plastic dual wire holder clip is also used on the fan housing on the Beetles, for the same purpose.

So, as you can see from these pictures, the two spark plug wires are held in the black plastic clip. The coil wire is held in the white clip. The vacuum hose from the left carburettor to the distributor is just lying under the bracket, to stay in place. The fuel hose to the T for both carbs is held under the metal tab in the cooling tin, on top of the oil cooler. There are also several of the white single clips on the lower parts of the upper tins, to hold the spark plug wires near the spark plugs.

These pictures here are from my 73. I believe my 70 has the exact same setup, but I havent checked that one.
