That is exactly how I understood from Jim that it should be installed. 
However, I can't install it like that because there's a honking great carb 
in the way.

That is why I asked whether this might be an FI only part.

BTW, what goes under the little clip that's screwed into the other hole, a 
fuel line? I have exactly the same clip on the bottom of my carb-linkage 
bell-crank, but it always seems that I would be bending the fuel line too 
sharply if I were to take it straight out of the fuel pump and clamp it 
under there.
