It's okay as long as the spark gets to the other end without leaking out somewhere along the line. Leaking out along the way can be worse in humid weather, so sometimes these things will let you down after you've convinced yourself that you're safe. In your climate, I wouldn't expect much of a problem. The cable sets are much cheaper if you have the screw-on Bosch ends, as these enable you to replace only the parts which have failed. I have good generic SP wire in stock, and use it as necessary to fix up engines that I work on. I can replace all the SP wire in an OG set without costing over $10. I chech the SP connectors periodically, because the resistors in them occasionally open up and also have to be replaced. It's also important to keep the air seal flaps (sometimes called "elephant ears") in good shape. If those are missing, they will let a lot of cooling air escape unused. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
