In general, I agree with you completely. The car I mentioned was a VERY special car which the owner brought over here on a lark. He was not a US citizen and never even set up permanent residence here. I think he had in mind selling the car here for a tidy profit, since it was such a desirable model, but found that this was just not going to be possible.
