I like the 'Jetta Station Wagons' so much we bought one - they are even called the (Golf) Variant by VW in Europe. I always reckon they didn't do a Golf estate for 20 years out of respect for the passing of the Variant (Squareback). Probably more likely they reckoned the demand wasn't there. They are getting a lot more popular here - many of them with the TDI engine, like ours. Lots of torque and good mileage. I think they've stopped the Lupo now. The Polo is really the Beetle replacement - my '82 has done 140,000 and still drives like a youngster, and they're everywhere (well, not so many of the early ones around now). Dave.
