I think the newer Jetta's are the closest they will ever get to the
type3. They won't make a a rear engine, air cooled car again so anything
closer to the type3 in appearance would be form over function. I think the
later jetta station wagons actually have similar styling to a squareback.
On another note I think the VW Lupo fills the niche the old bug did much
more closely than the new beetle does, and we can't ever buy them in the
states. Just another bussiness plan of Volkswagen Inc. I'll never
understand. Makes as much sense as never inporting the Notchback or type 34.
