Re: Pan gasket (was:Re: Governor o-ring (was:Re: [T3] Passed test- good and bad news))

Google ATP. They still make parts, gasket kits, and rebuild kits for
these transmission. They make kits for about every thing, and I think
they are originally a British company so they might be available in
Israel.

I think I have a pretty good chance of finding a strainer here. There is a shop in Tel Aviv that sells nothing but parts for automatic transmissions. That's where I got the gasket set from. They actually have a Type 3 vacuum modulator in their window.

If they don't have it then it might be more of a problem.

No luck. I went to TWO places that only sell parts for automatic transmissions, and neither had it. I also tried the VW main dealers parts store. He found the item on his parts computer, but it had no part number, meaning it is officially NLA from VW. Everyone had a very similar part for a later tranny (the 010). It's a pity they didn't keep the same part, 'cause then it would be generally available.

Everyone I showed it to suggested I should just clean it up and put it back in, since the hole was fixed, albeit a bit clumsily. Unless anyone here thinks that's a really bad idea, I think that's what I'll do.
