These came from the factory with just the metal baffle plate in there. The baffle plate has a "rolled" edge that crushes and provides a good seal with no gaskets or sealant. Gasket sets come with one paper gasket and the parts list shows two paper gaskets. If you try to put in 2 paper gaskets, however, you will find that this raises the breather stand too high and the fan housing won't fit properly on the rear of the case. BTDT. So my recommendation is to use just the metal baffle and a bit of sealant. Grease is fine for gaskets that will be removed regularly, but it will be slowly washed away in places like this where you expect a permanent fix. My preference for sealants is something that does not dry hard and brittle, and don't overdo it, as that just makes a mess and has the possibility of squeezing excess into the engine interior. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
