I think you or someone else has stated this before and it surprised me, because I'd never noticed this bend, but then again I have seldom had this part out of a car. So tonight, when this came up again, I decided to go check it out. I have 2 Type 3 shift rods in the basement, 1 from a '71 and 1 from a '72. Both are perfectly straight. I sighted down them by eye, AND placed a metal meter stick alongside each one, checking each in 2 planes. They really are both perfectly straight. I checked the parts list and the shift rod has not changed since late '64. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
