<x-charset ISO-8859-1>Where in PDX? I live on the west side, in Beaverton, and can recommend M&M Automotive (Nick, the owner, used to own a baby blue T3) at 503-642-1622. I've heard good reviews for Heckmann-Theimann on the east side, 503-233-4809. However, you will find out that YOU are the most honest, most thorough and best mechanic around, ya just don't know it yet! Doing as much work as you can yourself is far more rewarding and brings you to a much better understanding of your vehicle. Get the Bentley shop manual, the Haynes manual, and the Idiot's Guide (pretty much in that order) and you'll be on your way! I actually started out with the Idiot's Guide first, then Haynes, then Bentley, and taught myself quite a bit. Through the years I've become more adventuresome as my skills and confidence have increased. I don't care to do in-depth engine work -- I let the experts handle the innards -- but how far you want to go is up to you. For parts this email list is very good. Most T3-specific places are questionable, in customer service and/or pricing. Discount Import Parts near Washington Square Mall is my main common-VW source, 503-626-7036. Bigger stuff, like body panels, see Averre's in Longview, WA, 360-425-1119. One of the dudes there is named Toby but it ain't me :) I also have a FI tester that I'd LOVE to test on an operating FI system so if ya ever have any problems lemme know :) I also have a very good assortment of tools and an open garage bay if you ever need assistance.
