<x-charset iso-8859-1>Thanks Jim, your point about us being our best mechanics as ABSOLUTLY true. Haven't found anyone who even thinks the FB is a car worth working on around here. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Adney [mailto:jadney@vwtype3.org] Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2001 10:04 AM To: type3@vwtype3.org Subject: Re: [T3] Portland, OR T3 help? Get the Bentley manual and start studying. There are also listees in your area who will probably be willing/eager to help. It will be hard to find someone who still remembers our cars and how to work on them, and it will always be true that NO ONE cares about your car as much as you do. > 2- How do people go about deciding whether interior needs *extra* > good cleaning, or needs replace? It's your choice, but if what you have is original, I'd work hard to preserve it. The one exception are the 72-3 seat covers. They will almost always need to be replaced unless that's already been done. > 3- Any good recommendations for parts suppliers are appreciated. Ask here first. Good used OE parts are often better quality than what you can buy new. Some parts will only be available used. Remember the first rule of replacements is: Never throw away the old part until the replacement is INSTALLED and WORKING correctly. You should also ask here before replacing almost anything, as there are some things that you really don't want to part with; the OE dist cap plug wire ends are one example. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Search old messages on the Web!
