<x-charset iso-8859-1>TobyE=> need 1.5" tubing! You can get a fair bit closer to it by modifying the stock configuration. I started with a late muffler and tailpipe. We cut the muffler in half lengthwise, which involves cutting out half the spot welds on the cross baffles, which you can see from the outside. Then into the media blaster for a total cleaning. We removed the baffles from the ends of the in pipes, cut 'em right off, and enlarged the holes in the cross baffles by about 25%, leaving enough metal to keep the pipes from rattling. After welding the case halves back together and rewelding the cross baffles from the outside, we trimmed the tailpipe flange and welded the tailpipe to the muffler. (It'll all last a good long while here, where there's no salt and not even much rain.) I coated it with stove paint (Thermalox, Metallic Charcoal). The stock heat exchangers are still an obstruction, but this modification by itself added an easy 300rpm to my top end and it looks dead stock.
