Brakes: If the level in the reservoir doesn't change, you can't have a leak! If it goes down but the pedal is firm (doesn't go down as you push on it), there's a leak in the hoses to the master cylinder. Maybe the fluid isn't brake fluid. Does it mix with water? Grease from the front axle does produce some thin oily fluid which wouldn't mix with water. Steering damper OK? It wouldn't leak from the front axle tube though. Towing hitch wiring: I favour two sets of wires, from each rear light down through the bottom panel where the rear fender (wing) meets it (drill a 1/4" hole from the underside upwards). It's very discrete there. Connect piggy-back connectors on the lights (only one brake-light wire needed; use the left-hand one as the wire feeds from there to the right one, but use both the tail-lights for safety). Run the 3 wires left side, 2 on the right through the holes, and out through the bumper holes (grommets on all the holes helps); tie to tow-bar and then to connector socket. I use 3-core 3-amp or 5-amp mains cable as it is fine for this job, and looks smart. Dave.
