I called a couple of places here and they have no idea what I > am talking about. I always use a #2 pencil. The writing end isn't sharpened, just shaved down enough to be a tight fit in the hole in the top of the gear. I just push it in then pull and wiggle gently till the gear comes out. Since I have to go carefully it helps prevent losing the washers. It's also works for replacing the gear. I just give it a little twist once the gear is engaged, and it slips right out of the hole. This particular pencil always stays in my toolbox. I think you can buy the actual tool from JC Whitney.
