Re: [T3] Thermostats

<x-flowed>Type 4 engines have them also, with a cable (and pulley!) attached to them . . I believe that thermostat has a stud on top for connection instead of a boss with threads like the 311 model.

So get good and drunk and blow into the hole eh? And if your lucky still be
able to hold a soldering iron to solder it up!

Yea, Im going to keep an eye out for thermostats now too, I found a good one
in my stash but that may be it. Did the T4's use the same thermostat? I
recall my 914 engine has one that looked the same, and fortunately it was
good.

Question... what was in them? If I find the hole I could solder it up but
was there a vacuum in them? Special gas?

I think it is like an alcohol based vapor. They have an alcohol smell to
them when you puncture one.
I have several spare thermostats here. When at auctions where there are
VW parts, that is one of the things I look for anymore. "Does that
engine have a thermostat and linkage on it?"
