So get good and drunk and blow into the hole eh? And if your lucky still be able to hold a soldering iron to solder it up! Yea, Im going to keep an eye out for thermostats now too, I found a good one in my stash but that may be it. Did the T4's use the same thermostat? I recall my 914 engine has one that looked the same, and fortunately it was good. Keith > Question... what was in them? If I find the hole I could solder it up but > was there a vacuum in them? Special gas? > I think it is like an alcohol based vapor. They have an alcohol smell to them when you puncture one. I have several spare thermostats here. When at auctions where there are VW parts, that is one of the things I look for anymore.
