The fuel pressure regulators are pretty rugged and I've only ever heard of one failure, and that one didn't produce a leak when it failed. It's most likely that this is a hose leak. You say the lines are new, but the hose at the front of the regulator is not pressurized, so it usually doesn't get replaced. My guess is that your leak is at the front (front is front) hose connection. There may not be a clamp there, or that hose might still be old, and with a shredded end. It's also possible that you're seeing a leak from the # 1 injector. In either case, the rubber materials used with gasoline tend to swell slightly when exposed to gas and shrink when they dry out. This can explain leaks like this can come and go. To start, you really need to find out the exact source of the leak. While I doubt if you need one, I have good used regulators here, but as Tobio pointed out, I only have the non-EGR versions. You can use the non-EGR version just fine if your EGR valve has been removed (or if your engine never had one.) -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
