Here's a pretty good writeup on testing out your starting system. It's for Type 2s but the same principles generally apply. http://type2.com/bartnik/starter.htm You may have the classic problem whereby the ignition circuit for the solenoid gets "tired" for lack of a better technical term and needs to have a relay introduced into the system. But test out your system first before anything. Don't assume the starter is bad, out of hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
