It took me a few days to find the opportunity to check out the type 3s I have here at home. I have 3 unmolested squarebacks here at the moment: a '67, a '71, and a '73. All three have the headliner installed first, with the vinyl covering the pillars put on later and cut straight across. The rolled edge sounds like a nice touch, but there's no sign of it here. It's possible that this was done differently on different assembly lines, and also it's easy to imagine that this particular operation was done by different people for different body styles since the operation would be so different for the different shapes. It's also possible that earlier cars were done differently, but I'm pretty sure that, at least from '67-on, all squarebacks were done as David described. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
