I guess we are all against regular checks on our vehicles if we're paying, but I bet some of you wish others would look after their dangerously neglected cars a bit better and drive more considerately when near your special car and family members. It certainly is a thorough check that included removing brake drums - maybe they were looking for why the brakes weren't working properly. Talking of brake pads, mine started grating occasionally on the way back from meeting John. I thought it might be a trapped stone, but pads one side were evenly but comprehensively worn out, just touching the metal at one point, and the other side not much better. Seems no time since they were new - well, maybe 10,000 miles I suppose. They're the Brazil calipers, so maybe the linings supplied work better but wear quicker. They do a good job of stopping the car, but the Type 3 has always had a reputation for good brakes anyway. Dave.
