Those cars got a special pump which was lower and it had the pump diaphram & body at an angle. Those pumps took a shorter pushrod. I wonder if they're just supplying the late pump as a replacement for everything now. I also seem to recall people on the newsgroup complaining about the quality of the pushrods. I found this surprising because I didn't think there was ever any reason to replace one, but maybe this is the reason. Did the pump you bought have the angled body? -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
