Re: [T3] fuel pump did the trick (was vapor lock)

Hi All,

I went out and bought a new T3 Brosol pump ($23) and noticed the second I pulled it out of the box that the spring(s) on my old one were shot to hell: I could operate the action with my pinky! I actually thought the new one might be defective/stuck since it took so much more relative pressure to actuate. In any case, I put the new pump in, got the engine as hot as I could (around 190) killed the engine and let it sit for 15 min, and then started it up. Although it did take more turnovers than when cold to catch and started up a tad rough, once I gave it a rev it returned to normal idle and I was able to drive away with no problem whatsoever.

When I bought a replacement Brasilian pump it had a sticker on the box saying that it needed a special length of operating rod. I can't remember exactly but I think it was shorter than stock. I was able to buy one from the same flaps as the pump. If the rod were too long it could explain the wrecked spring and overheating of the old pump?
