[T3] Carburetor Hesitation

<x-flowed>
Next major issue on my '67 square was the fact that it has a large hesitation when you give it a litte gas.
If I start releasing the clutch in that period [ as was natural for me, ] I would stall it. In order to drive it I would have to gas it, let it rev up passed the hesitation and let out the clutch for a more moderatly fast start, so needless to say I wasn't driving it too much.

This is a darksider motor, it's a 2275, with dual weber 44idfs.
[ Is the darkside of this list as strong as the lightside? *grin*]

I got it into the mechanic because carburetor issues confuse me. I think understand my '72 FI square better. [ FI seems so nice. :) ]

He has the carbs balanced, timing, tuneup, all that stuff done. However after the first day didn't have it figured out, and is going to get some advice from a friend of his. I told him I could ask the list what they thought, and he gave me all the info to pass on.

It's:

2275cc

Dual Webber 44 idfs with,

            chokes: 36mm
Air correction Jet: 175
        Mains jets: 135 [ tried 150 too, didn't change noticibly. ]
    Emulsion tubes: F11
         idle jets: 50

(chokes or Upper venturis, he didn't like when I just called them venturis, what's the more common word? )

Engle 120 Grind Cam
1 6/8" exhaust headers.
Short manifolds, and short air cleaners to let the lid close.

He predicts that the advice will be to go with smaller [ 32mm? ] chokes/venturis but says that we'll sacrifice a lot of power that way. He thinks we're fighting against the short manifolds, and exhaust headers that are possibly to large. I think he also thought someone might suggest F7 emulsion tubes.

On top of all that he thinks the restricted air flow from the short air cleaners is
probably robbing a lot of power.

Thoughts and opinions greatly appreciated.
