Yes, I'm a good example of this. : ) Even my "stock appearing" Notch is a 
little dark, and my roofless Roadster 2 is a walk on the wild side (even if it's 
mostly stock). It seems type 3 ownership runs the full gamut, both here and on 
other forums as well. The way I look at it, if it helps keep a few more of 
these cars on the road, that's a good thing. I know people have been asking for 
alternator kits or conversions for a while, I've even sent them to Toby's site 
to help them out. I think the alt kit is more of a convience for some, in 
that it either works or it doesn't, and when it quits, you only have one thing to 
replace. Martin is correct that the rebuilds lately seem to be very poor, as 
evidenced here by Mike W. having to go thru 2 new rebuilt ones to solve his 
problem. That being said, I've had good luck with older used ones, and just 
tossing in a set of brushes and putting it back into service. : )
