If you really must, then remove both # 2 pushrods and disconnect the injector. That's probably the least use I've had out of a set of rebuilt > heads in 27 years of driving aircooled VWs. If you've got a good set of type 3 heads that sounds like a good plan. Get them out to RIMCO right away. I agree that these must have been pretty poor quality heads.
