I can't get the steering knuckle free of the lower torsion arm and ball 
joint.

I was counting on the techniques in Keith's front end FAQ  of jacking 
up the lower torsion arm,
however I can jack it up till it hits the stops, and it doesn't come 
out.  [and the car is rather precarious at that point. ] it's only 
sticking in about half the thickness of the steering knuckle,
so it's almost there.   I'm attempting to leave the top ball joint 
alone as per Keith's FAQ as I only wish to adjust ride height.

Any ideas? do I need a majik clamping device as in the bentley?  [ I 
tried some tie down straps with a crank, but they couldn't build up 
enough force.  It looked promising for moment though. ]
