Those generators were only used in '67 and '68 or so. They still show up in the cores occasionally, but your only way of finding one is generally to find someone who has a large stock of them and look thru the boxes. Bosch sells all of them under the same rebuild number, but there are other places who differentiate, so that might help. > looks like I'll have to find an electrical repair shop, if I want to > spend the time to keep the old style in the car, or change out the > connectors, if I don't. Almost every medium sized town has an automotive electric repair shop. Check your yellow pages, or just ask at an automotive machine shop or auto repair shop for a reference. I'm sure that they will be able to send you in a good direction. If you do this, I'd recommend that you take in the VR at the same time in case they can't find a problem. A lot of these places can also at least check out your parts while you wait and at least give you a hint of where the problem might be. The sad part is that the problems are generally simple, it just takes someone who knows where to look to find them. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
