Well, I went and bought the car yesterday. Turns out to be a '72, the ad was a mistake. Took my old tow bar with me, but it's not long enough. After I came back, I stopped by to see a friend and he has a longer tow bar, I guess maybe designed for T2's and 3's. I'll probly go back tomorrow and get it with the longer tow bar. The type IV motor looked pretty sad. Has had a carb fitted to the throttle body in the center which sticks up through a hole in a piece of plywood in place of the deck lid. No cool air bellows. Motor cross bar has a piece of chain on one side holding it up. Had a nicely done exhaust. I've seen worse conversions. It's been my experience that an incomplete motor conversion gets you a car at a really good price, and then you have the option to put it back stock or fix the install. The body on this is super straight and the paint is usable. Nice upholstery on lowback seats that look like old Porsche seats. EMPI wheels. Battery floor rusted out. So, I guess I'll finish getting my son's '69 SB going, and then work on my own.
