[T3] gas tank overflow hose, etc.

I recently won an ISP auction for one of those elusive gas tank overflow hoses.
Their auction ad said that this was for an OE VW part with the ISP part # 311
201 179A. This is the correct part # for the 68-early 72 overflow hose.

The late hose is a C version.

The part I got had VW 311 201 179B molded into it. Puzzling. Here's the email I
just sent to them:

It appears to me that someone has reproduced these parts and that is why we are
seeing them back on the market again. Has anyone else bought one of these
lately (at a price less than $30.) If so, did you notice the part #? How well
did it fit?

BTW, speaking of reproduction parts, Dave Hall had one of the reproduction
black rubber filler cups, the ones that surround the gas filler pipe, at
Hershey. Dave, you may remember that I mentioned to you that the hole was off
center and you replied that the OE ones were too. Well, I just looked at a
couple of NOS ones I have here, and they are perfectly centered. OTOH, when I
looked at that part installed in my car, it looked like it would benefit from
being slightly off center, so this may be an improvement. Maybe these won't
tear as easily.
