Ah, I see, just wrap it round. I guess an old thermocouple tube would do - hollow but would crush, or maybe you could put something through - copper wire strands perhaps. In the UK there's a size of copper tube that's 42mm OD. I figure it must be a couple of mm wall thickness (3mm would be ideal, but that's a bit too much to hope), so I'm on the lookout to find a short length - I need to find an industrial plumber. Should be OK to make 42x36 washers from. Might be able to bandsaw a thin ring, or maybe use a tube cutter with a dowel to support the pieces. If the internal diam isn't quite enough, I expect a thicker ring would crush inwards a bit. I can't find anywhere that seems to list anything like that size of crush washer otherwise. Dave.
