The 009 refers to the last 3 digits of the part number on the distributor. This was an aftermarket dist. that was marketed for performance engines. The 009 does NOT have a vacuum advance canister on the side. It is strictly mechanical advance, and can cause severe hesitation. It has been found by members of this list and others, that the 009 does NOT work well with a stock dual carb engine. A fuel injection dist. actually works better. > > The right carb was working great and now since I have been doing some > adjustments both sides are not running so good. Start with getting the right carb idling with the linkage disconnected. Then get the left carb to match. Check the accelerator pumps adjusted right. BTW, do you have a carb syncronizer?? This helps a lot. You can buy them for about $10-$15 if you shop around. And on another note, I am one of the 50 year old farts that Steve Ayers mentioned in his post. I have been working on these things since 1964. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
