Thanks for helping me keep it correct guys! The designation M236/26 was a common designation often printed on US engines '70 or later. The M233 doesn't look like it would have affected the engine, so I doubt if it would have been printed there at all. I'm not familiar enough with early engines to have any idea what codes would have shown up there, if any, but I'm pretty sure that what you have is a later pulley cover. The first year for M233 was '69.
