Honestly, I don't even know if it helps, but there have been a lot of complaints in the last 10-15 years that the replacement cams being sold are made with the wrong metallurgy, so there have been a lot of failures. This break in method is something that some people have proposed to try to reduce the failure rate. I don't know if anyone knows if it helps. I go thru my old OE cams and pick good ones for my rebuilds. I know people say you shouldn't do this, but with today's quality, I think I may be better off this way. If the quality is this bad, I wonder what the BeetleMex engines come with. I suspect they must be good, so their cams ought to be available. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
