hi If the quality is this bad, I wonder what the BeetleMex engines come with. I suspect they must be good, so their cams ought to be available. well mex engines have hydro lifters as well and they are quite notorious for wipeing there cams flat in say 50-60k miles in some instances typ4 engines in stock form also eat cams quite nicely as well i feel this has a lot to do with hydralic lifters as well and the constant contact with the camshaft the contact face on typ 4 and mex hydro lifters is smaller than the mushroom typ3 lifters this may also have a part to play. typ4 and mex engines are certainly not as good as a well maintained typ3 engine in this respect in stock form! neil verdon. 66 sqr on irs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
