I have never broken in a cam shaft in my life. And I have probably built
more VW engines than anyone on this list. 3-4 a week for 15 years, and I
never had a single comeback. I last rebuilt the engine in my '71 back in
1979, and it is still a pretty strong engine. VW never did either. If
the cam and followers are of good quality, it shouldn't need it.

Does anyone think that VW broke in all the millions of VW engines that
they built before it left the factory??
One year, 1961, (the first year for the 40hp), they had a problem with
one batch of cams that caused problems, and they replaced everyone that
they could get back.

(end of rant)
