No, it will start either way.

The engine number is on the top of the case, just to the right of the parting 
line. If this car is a US car it was originally FI. If it has been converted to 
carbs then you'll have to help us identify what was installed.

You'll have to ask some more specific questions before we can give you any good 
advice. This list is your best source for type 3 help.

The first thing you should do is make sure you have spark, and that the timing 
and valve adjustments are right.
