I took a drive this weekend about 40 miles, all highway. When I stopped for about ten minutes, the car wouldn't start again. Good crank, and begins to fire up, but then doesn't. After waiting about 20 minutes, it finally started. Drove another 25 miles, stopped, turned it off and tried to start it right away, it started right up, idled as normal. Went in to get some coffee, came back and same problem, good crank, but doesn't fire up. We were close to our destination, so we walked and came back 45 minutes later, started right up. Drove home, stopped along the way, (in Concord, Mass) shut her off and tried it 20 minutes later, same problem. In getting it started this time, I turned the key on and off about 15-20 times without cranking, to engage the FP. This seemed to do it, car fired up after doing this. Does this mean my FP is dying? BTW, this only happens on longer drives. Gary '71 FI AT Square ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
