Do you have the complete 72 FI system including the ECU, other than the dist? Do you have the 72 intake air distributor? If so, it has ports for both vacuum advance and retard. At med rpm after a warmup drive the voltage across the battery should be 14.1-14.4V If it is lower than 13.5V replace the voltage regulator with a genuine Bosch. This is Jim in Chicago, right?
