You can install a Heli Coil without pulling the engine, IF you have the proper tool. There is a special tap, that reams the hole out to the proper size, AND taps it all at the same time. You apply grease to the reamer/tap to catch the shavings. There is a special tool to install the Heli Coil that will reach through the shroud on even a T-3 engine, and install the insert. I have a set of these tools, if someone is interested. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
