In general, you take them out in pairs, by removing the 2 M6 nuts that hold each retaining plate in place. BUT, there is an easier way to do this. First, on 70-73 FI, turn the key ON and go to the engine compartment. Depress the throttle from there and you should hear a dozen or so clicks as 2 of the injectors fire. You can put your hand on the injectors to feel which ones are clicking. Once you verify that 2 are clicking turn the engine over 360 deg and do this again to get the other 2 to fire. To verify that there is actually fuel coming out as you do this, you can put a gauge on the fuel pressure test point and then watch to see if the pressure drops when you hear the clicks. You will have to unplug some of the injectors in order to verify that the other on is actually passing fuel. This is a crude but effective test, but it won't show up injectors that aren't quite spraying quite enough fuel. > >What year was this again? > > '71, I measured voltage coming out of the harness going into the > injector with the engine running, and it jumped around rhythmically with > the running of the engine. They should measure 2.5-3 Ohms, but you're probably measuring the resistance of the leads and connections, too, so this is probably fine. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
