You have to remove the outer door handle, the inner door panel, the inner water shield (carefully, don't tear it,) and then the door latch assembly. You will then find that there is a tiny coil spring that has broken and the bits are lying in the bottom of your door. Go to the hardware store and buy a similar small spring, or one which you can cut down to make it the right length. Find the two prongs in the door latch assembly that this spring needs to attach to. It's an easy fix, it's just hard to get to. Make sure to glue the water shield back in place carefully. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
