Odd that it would have had both. Early engines got the little squares that nestle just up and between the cylinders. Late type 3 engines (71-) got the larger pieces, which came to be called "cool tins" I'm surprised that both will fit in there at once. If you have both, I'd stick with the later ones, BUT you may not have all the right parts to make this fit really well. There were other parts which changed when the cool tins were introduced, so you might actually be better off with the original style for your 70 if all your other pieces are the 70 style. Next you will get lots of folks telling you that you can certainly install the cool tins with the other early parts. I suspect they've never seen what the other late parts look like. I'm sure the later setup is better, but I don't think it is at all clear whether a mixed setup is better than the early setup. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
