 Well, technically my first ride was going across country in my dads new 69 
bug pulling a camping trailer. We were gone for 6 weeks as he was in the 
military at the time and took all of his vacation time at once. We all had a good 
time seeing the USA. It was the kind of trip you never forget ALL through your 
life.

 My first VW was a 66 type3 Squareback that I bought used from a dealers lot 
(we had to jump it to get it running because the 6 volt battery was dead), I 
think I paid 400 dollars for it in 1983. I bought my second type3 (a 70 
Fastback that we still own) on July 3rd 1989, my 3rd was my old 70 Square (that WAS 
at Parma in 2002). My 4th is my Notch that I got on Oct 5th 2000, and my 5th in 
my 69 Square that I got last fall in late Oct-November. And we just rescued a 
71 Square from the crusher, that will be my next custom project as my son and 
I are still working on His Roadster project, which started out in life as a 
65 Squareback S model, that was rear ended, the cut up with a sawzall before we 
bought the pieces. I'm looking at doing a group shot here in the next day or 
two for ALL the type3s I have in the yard (currently 6), it should make for an 
interesting picture. I've already taken (still need to develop though) a 
small type3.org style line up shot (Notch, Fasty, Square), and I've wanted to do a 
group one next. I may not be the earliest, or have the most of them, but I'm 
trying to keep as many of them still on the road. : )Thanks for letting me

       65 Roadster project- formerly a cut up Square (no type3s were harmed 
in its construction as it was built from junk parts)
