Commutators are not available as a separate part. You would have to replace the 
armature. You can't buy a NEW generator for $80, what you're getting is a 
rebuilt one, with a turned commutator, new brushes, new bearings, and maybe 
some new fittings.

If you can find a local shop willing to just turn the commutator, that should 
cost $20-30.
