The curious thing is that they use salt at all.I once worked in an Alcoa plant in Massena,NY. In that county,they use a small amount of salt with the balance being cinders.Great Traction! Here they use salt with a small amount of sand.Terrible traction because of the slush salt creates.Since the salt raises the melting point,it stays liquid longer making for treacherous driving.Add to that the HUGE amounts of spray created by Semi's,SUV's and HUGE pickups,(Dodge,Chevy and Ford),makes driving at rush hour a real treat.(Whatever happened to mudflaps?)
