Sounds like a good plan! the only thing Id be worried about is the rockers... with all the cam problems these days Id be a bit worried... and you may have to shorten up your head freshening intervals. I think the key to line boring is finding someone (like Rimco) that will do it right AND using a case that hasnt been traumatized by overheating or running it till the bearings are knocking. Im 0.20 on my case and have put 87K on it since the linebore... no problems, never had it apart and still decent oil pressure for that mileage (never any flickering oil light.. even when it was 96 degrees out!) Keith I want to keep the stock FI but want to lean a bit to the darker side so I am considering: > > 69MM counterweighted crank > 88MM machine fit P/C > Std heads but with some mild porting and polishing > Std cam > Std rods > 1.4 rocker arms > New case > Std weight flywheel > Std FI dizzy > > I've heard line bored cases should be avoided and standard weight flywheels should be used for what I need. Is this a good combination? Can rebuilt rods and cam be used with expectations of a long life? I live in Sunnyvale, CA, (Bay Area) so if any of you have had any good experiences with local shops please let me know. > > Thanks, > Norman > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------- > List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org > >
