[T3] Seeking opinions on rebuild

Some wishful thinking here. I want to give my '68 Squareback with 223K miles a real serious makeover during the next year. This includes paint, rebuilt trans (maybe 5 speed or close ratio 3rd/4th gears) and engine rebuild. This will be a daily driver, no track time car. I'm looking for a little more performance but with a good idle and be reliable. I want to keep the stock FI but want to lean a bit to the darker side so I am considering:

69MM counterweighted crank
88MM machine fit P/C
Std heads but with some mild porting and polishing
Std cam
Std rods
1.4 rocker arms
New case
Std weight flywheel
Std FI dizzy

I've heard line bored cases should be avoided and standard weight flywheels should be used for what I need. Is this a good combination? Can rebuilt rods and cam be used with expectations of a long life? I live in Sunnyvale, CA, (Bay Area) so if any of you have had any good experiences with local shops please let me know.

Thanks,
Norman
