Open the dist and grab the rotor. Twist it CW, it should move maybe 15 
degrees, and snap back when you let it go. It should move smoothly and 
easily, although it is okay for there to be some play that you feel if you move 
it both CW and CCW; that's just the play between the drive dog and the slot. 
If you can feel it catch and bind anywhere in this process that is the mech 
advance not moving smoothly and this will make for erratic behavior.

Did the timing change when you reconnected the green retard hose? If not, 
your vac advance can is broken.

It's something, but not really the same.

I'll have to check my manuals on this. I can never remember the right 
numbers.
