If the body in that area is perfect then it will all hold together as long as the drive is smooth. But a jerky ride, sudden acceleration or deceleration (hard unanticipated stop), or lots of climbing and decents will put a lot of force on this weak area. The only thing holding the bumper to the rest of the car are a bunch of spot welds in series with a couple of small bolts. I think you were planning to cross the Rockies this way. I would't do it. Do you really want to take a major chance on ruining the car and killing some other family in an oncoming car? A million dollars worth of liability insurance would not be enough, expecially after you have had all these warnings from the people on the list. I wouldn't think the cost of a 2 wheel dolly would add that much to what the truck will cost you, or am I mixing up 2 different people now? - Jim Adney, Associate Researcher Plasma Physics Group, Department of Physics University of Wisconsin Madison, Wisconsin, USA 608-262-4643 ------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <type3-off@vwtype3.org> For more help, see http://vwtype3.org/list/
