My guess is that the trigger contacts were making intermitten contact?  I'm
not sure if you still would have good spray all the time but I bet for that
short period of running the injector test, they decided to fire just fine.
I had a similar problem and my trigger contacts passed the voltmeter test,
but were still dirty enough to cause problems intermittenly.
